Orienteering World Championships in Finland for the 5th time
In August 2019, the IOF Council decided to appoint the World Orienteering Championships in 2025 to Kuopio, Finland. Mika Ilomäki, the CEO of the Finnish Orienteering Federation, was pleased that the World Championships were once again being organized in Finland.
“For Finnish orienteering, this is an extremely great thing. Kuopio has motivated organizers and excellent facilities, providing a good foundation for a successful event,” Ilomäki emphasized.
The 2025 World Orienteering Championships will be the fifth time the event has been held in Finland. Previously, the championships were organized in 1966 in Fiskars, 1979 and 2001 in Tampere, and 2013 in Vuokatti.
